At Daya we are always inspired by the courage and strength of survivors, from the time they call us to overcoming all the obstacles to finally living a life free of violence. Recently, two of our clients shared a little about what their journey with Daya meant to them. We are so moved by their ability to overcome so much adversity and indebted to the community that support Daya's services.

"I am a Survivor, not a victim anymore," I often tell this if I come into conversation with any girl going through the same situation as I had. In all honesty, this would not be possible without the help and support I received from Daya since day one. The team helped me in dealing with my trauma, building back my confidence, in supporting me with legal matters and much more. But the reason I was able to be who I am today is hugely because of the way they supported me with finances. There was possibly NO WAY for me work, if they had not supported me with the monthly rent and childcare for months. "Getting rental assistance has been one of the most important parts of my life, and it was a turning-point. When I first held my keys, I cried tears of joy. It was life-saving. The kids were so excited to be able to say they finally had their own place. To this day, my youngest son who was 8 years old has the exact date and time memorized for when we first moved into our apartment.
